The VisionCommunity Center Building Update

Currently we are in Phase 1B of our full community campus. This phase is one of four phases. We continue to expand our programs by providing opportunities for our members to live meaningful and active lives with supported independence to meet their multiple needs. Our next step is building outdoor recreational areas, a gathering pavilion, gymnasium, as well as respite homes and residential housing.

Wonderful news! Thanks UF!

Wonderful news! Thanks UF!UF Department of Psychology's Dr. Tim Vollmer, PI, in collaboration with Dr. Kerri Peters of Psychiatry, has secured a unique public-private contractual relationship with the Florida Autism Centers to develop four specialty clinics within the context of the UF Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UF CAN). This has resulted in hiring of 4 Ph.D.-level research-practitioners (Dr. Vivian Ibanez, Dr. Ciobha McKeown, Dr. Sean Smith, and Dr. Faris Kronfli). One clinic will focus on behavioral interventions for pediatric feeding disorders, another will focus on early learner skills for young children with autism spectrum (or related) disorders, another will focus on behavioral assessment and treatment, and the fourth clinic will focus on transition to adulthood. ... What a Wednesday at TLC! Not only did TLC members arrive full of excitement to see workers outside making progress on the much anticipated Outdoor Pavilion but also to see the wonderful Occupational Therapy Students from the University of Florida who are joining us each Wednesday this summer to work with members on a variety of skills. As if the members werent excited enough, we welcomed Adam back to TLC after a year-long hiatus plus theyve also had the opportunity to learn about the Olympics including trying their hand at Olympic events and learning facts about Greece. Annnnnnd (drumroll please), weve been able to begin our culinary program again!! Woohoo!!!! Rainbow Banana Sushi was the first snack on the menu. Its definitely been a GREAT Wednesday at TLC!! 💛🧡💛🧡 #TLC #Growing #UniversityofFlorida #OTstudents #WelcomeBack #Olympics #CulinaryAdventures

July 1st has brought some changes to TLC. We said farewell to our Board President, Darren Ritch, who has served in the position since 2016. He's been with TLC since it began in 2012 and has no plans to go anywhere. He'll be volunteering behind the scenes and helping TLC in the cybersecurity world! We hope you enjoy the linked video full of TLC memories with Darren!!

Carmen Maines began her tenure as Board President and has some big shoes to fill and we have no doubt she'll do a wonderful job of guiding TLC in the future.

We are also welcoming two new board members to TLC. Eric Cummings is not only a minister and member of Marion County School Board but a TLC parent! Jared Goodspeed has volunteered at TLC assisting us with the finishing touches on our center prior to opening in 2019. Jared is the Facilities Management Director for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners.

Below you'll find a listing of our current Executive Committee as well as our full Board. We can't thank each board member enough for ALL they do for TLC! We look forward to working with each TLC Board member and cannot wait to see the wonderful ideas/plans they bring to TLC!!

Donate

We hold regular fundraisers in the community and would love for you to join us. In order to fulfill the complete dream of building the TLC community, we need ongoing financial gifts. Please donate now, or contact us to see how you can become a Partner for Potential.

Communicate

If you are aware of any adult with special needs, please share the TLC dream with their family. We currently have a weekday program, a Saturday program, and many social activities. We would love to serve more people. Please tell those within your circle of influence about TLC.

Volunteer

There are a variety of ways you can help. Please visit our Committees page to learn more about our needs and where you will most enjoy serving with TLC. Since we serve a very vulnerable population, background screenings are required for all volunteers who will have direct contact with TLC clients.
